Semblance

Telling stories through the canvas is always a gift, even when we don't know the roots of the one who tells them. This is how Gabriela, a training architect, but an artist by conviction, tells a world that was born from the contact and contemplation of the work of various plastic artists.

In addition to working with paint, Gabriela developed in ceramics and sculpture. Recently she attended a workshop on ancient techniques and another on contemporary techniques, as well as marble sculpture in Italy.

Her recent work is a dynamic and spontaneous history, characteristics not only of her work, but of her personality. For her, the blank canvas is a story that must be finished, a cycle that needs to be closed to set new experiences.

With a diploma in Interior Design, also in the Italic peninsula, hers brushstrokes are filled with the will to escape from concrete reality, with strokes based on strength, which allows the viewer to finish interpreting her work, through moments of reflection that propitiate the forms of language invented by Gabriela.

Mexico, Italy, Colombia and the United States, in venues such as the Manuel Felguérez Museum of Abstract Art, Rafael Coronel Museum, Francisco Goitia Museum, the Carlos Villafañe House of Culture, among others, have been participants in her stories.

Among her individual exhibitions, Nuances of the heart, signs and signals stand out, in which she enters here own language, belonging only to her.

Then, with vibrations of colors, she shows the exhibition entitled The Legend of Juana Gallo cartoons of a myth, in which she reconstructs the image of an icon. With titles like "I do not know what my eyes have that I only see bastards", evokes in a humorous way the recreated image of Ángela Ramos, that dark skin on which huge eyes rested.

The Zen Sample collection of Huiricuta is a vision of the sacred territories of the Wixarika indigenous people and the protected areas: the place where the sun rises. The works that make up the collection are stories that speak of a cosmogony, of the birth of a world in which ancient deities and spirits inhabit, stories that are a gift embodied with delicate brushstrokes that tell memories of yesteryear.

Every story involves a process, just as we are not the same when we touch the bottom of the barrel. This is how Autumn Harvest, an exhibition inspired by the art of vine growing, transforms on to the canvas the transformation necessary to be what we are. An iconographic phase sown, rested and mature, ready for the palate of the world to have its touch on it.

Meraki, her most recent exhibition, consists of medium-sized sculptures and tells stories in the form of Celtic knots, a style that dates back to the Roman century. These visual narratives represent the trinity, eternal life and love. Through intertwined patterns, which hide the eyes of the earth, untold stories and abyss of tenderness, Gabriela shows a fresh composition that invites the viewer to travel within themselfs to remember her stories.
